Frequently asked questions
Straight answers to the questions we hear most from IFHP patients.
Do I need to apply for IFHP before visiting?
In most cases, no. Your eligibility is based on your immigration status and is usually activated automatically. Our front desk can check your status when you arrive.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring any immigration or IRCC documents you have, such as a refugee claimant document or confirmation of permanent residence. If you're not sure what you have, bring whatever paperwork you were given and our team will help sort it out.
Will I have to pay for my visit?
For services covered under your IFHP category, we bill Medavie Blue Cross directly, so there is usually no cost to you at the time of the visit.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk-ins are welcome daily at both our Surrey and Aldergrove locations. You can also call ahead to book a specific time if you'd rather.
Can my whole family be seen?
Yes. We provide care for adults and children with IFHP coverage, including prenatal and well-child visits.
What if I'm not sure whether I'm covered?
Walk in anyway. Our front desk can check for you, and if there's ever a question about your specific coverage, you can also contact IFHP directly at their toll-free line, 1-888-614-1880.
Which location should I go to?
Both our Surrey and Aldergrove clinics accept IFHP patients equally and keep the same hours — choose whichever is more convenient for you.
